Free diving our local shipwreck - The Mapledawn

August 9, 2018

What a fantastic weekend for a family free dive / snorkel trip out to our local shipwreck the impressive Mapledawn.   With incredibly warm water (24oC), there was no need for wetsuits, and just look at that visibility!! At 350 ft, there is plenty to see from bow to stern, like the massive quadruple expansion engine and propeller. This site is very suitable for all levels of snorkeler due to its relatively shallow location, the deepest point, just 12m at the Propeller. It is also a great habitat for small mouth bass, I counted over 30 during the 45 minute session. We will be back soon Mapledawn with our next group of Advanced Open Water students!!
